Open Letter to UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham MP Permitting of anti-Israel demonstrations in Central London on 7 October 2026
I am writing to you today express my profound anger, deep distress, and utter condemnation regarding the decision to permit anti-Israel demonstrations on the streets of Central London today, 7 October 2026.
Today marks the solemn memorial of the horrific pogrom and massacre carried out against innocent Israeli civilians by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). On this day, over 1,200 people were murdered in cold blood, and 251 individuals were violently kidnapped—many of whom were not returned alive.
For the Jewish community globally and anyone with a shred of humanity, today is a day of deep mourning, remembrance, and grief.
To permit mass political demonstrations targeting Israel on this exact anniversary is a total abandonment of basic morals and ethics. It is an affront to Jews worldwide and a disgrace of the highest order. Allowing these events today is no different from permitting supporters of the London 7/7 London bombings to take to the streets in praise of murderous bombers on the anniversary of that national tragedy.
You as Prime Minister, the Home Secretary, and the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police should hang your heads in shame for failing to prevent this event from going ahead today. Their inaction and lack of moral clarity show that they are entirely unworthy of public office.
What are the specific reasons and justification that HM Government has allowed this unacceptable and deeply offensive event to take place on such a sensitive day? I expect our elected officials to stand against intimidation and respect the memory of terror victims, and I look forward to your urgent response on how you intend to address this matter .
