OPEN LETTER TO PRIME MINISTER SIR KEIR STARMER

22 May 2025 Dear Prime Minister Starmer The recent joint declaration regarding Israel by the UK, France and Canada is totally one sided, it is as if no cognizance has been taken of the cause of the problem, the unprecedented pogrom carried out without warning from the Gaza Strip on Israeli civilians by Hamas and Palestine Islamic Jihad terrorists. Over a period of 2000 years, Jews have had to put up with such pogroms in Europe, the Maghreb and Iraq (The Farhud, June 1941) without being able to defend themselves, now they are able, the UK sees it fit to condemn them and effect even more sanctions- is the UK so blind or is it plain hatred? HM Government abandoned the Mandate for Palestine in 1947 and should refrain from acting as it was still dealing with the Jewish Agency and not a sovereign independent state, repeating the old mantra Israel has a right to defend itself – every sovereign independent state has the right to defend itself to the best of their ability and does not require authorization from HM Government or anybody else!. What is concerning is it has been observed that whilst ICBM’s are fired at Israel population centers from 2000 km away by the Houthis in Yemen- so far there have been 40 plus attacks, including two within the last 24 hours, HM Government and its allies in France and Canada have not issued any similar warnings to the Houthis or their masters in Iran. Nor indeed has this been raised by HM Government in the UN Security Council – why was nothing done by HM Government? The BBC does not even bother to report such attacks so the UK public is in the dark of what is happening in reality but it ensures that the lies about the situation in Gaza are promulgated that resulted in the Joint Declaration. Due cognizance must be given that these attacks are akin to ICBM’s being fired at London from the tip of Italy, Greece, or Ukraine or by Norway from within the Arctic Circle. I am sure, that in such circumstances HM Government would not sit idly by and would take full retaliatory military action together with their allies, just as was done when Nazi Germany bombed Coventry in WWII and no humanitarian aid was supplied to the enemy civilians subsequently. HM Government has never acted against the Houthis militarily to prevent these ICBM attacks on Israel, but together with the USA only acted against the Houthis to prevent attacks by them on international civilian shipping. Under the circumstances can HM Government advise why no such joint declarations have been made against the Houthis and why as a Permanent Member of the UN Security Council HM Government has not raised this issue in the UNSC?
